Quite heavy grape crop, especially on the Mourvdre vines; some thinning out necessary. Late year. Major rain at end of August followed by intense heat, a layer of noble rot could be seen on the most advanced Cinsaults. The harvests were speeded up to avoid too much selection. The Grenaches gave a lot of juice, the harvest basically relying on the late grape varieties, such as the Mourvdre and Clairette. The month of September turned into an Indian summer. The grapes are ripening unusually slowly, giving a very special, silky quality to the wines. Classic cuve, with a very nice balance. We are even producing a naturally sweet wine, "le nez rouge", based on Rolle grapes that have developed noble rot.
